I have a dehydrator and I'm obsessed with food. This is all about consuming my time and my time is all about consuming food.
So far I've had some flops in the kitchen. Zucchini wraps - not quite right. Falafels tasty but falling apart and universally reviled chocolate mousse. The clear winner, that even has the meatetarians clamouring for more has been these nacho chips.
It's been a weird ride this trip down veganism. I didn't eat much meat but found becoming a vegetarian more difficult than I thought. Yet, despite being a cheese loving dairy consuming fiend, I've found veganism to be extremely easy. I'm not complaining. Another surprise is my developing interest in raw food.
In the dehydrator right now are some chili lime macadamia nuts (I'm trying to emulate these beyond delicious nuts made by Samudra) and strawberrys for a strawberry jam that will go inside some raw banana crepes - kind of a cross between this recipe and this recipe.
Update: The banana crepes with cashew cream, strawberry 'jam' and berries was amazing!
I'm eating smoothies consisting of almond milk, dates, cacao, maca, mesquite, acai and a green superfood concoction. Chia pudding has become a meal of choice (made with almond milk, dates, cinnamon and coconut). Really how does one go from being a fast food junkie to eating - and enjoying - food like this? It happened slowly for me, but appears to be snowballing. Who know how long this will last and where it will end up...
